The first raking of the season

Living in our neighborhood for 2 falls now has really introduced me to real leaf raking. This is no 'rake once and you are done' like I may have thought as a naive Colorado girl who grew up with mostly pines. No, it is back breaking, incredibly fun work. Just ask Lane, when she didn't want to get out of be the next morning due to back pain. :) My little granny.

This is when Lane's friends and neighbors showed up to help us out...for the raking AND the playing.

Here is Lane and Brock, gathering all the leaves. I am not going to lie, there was a little child labor going on.

 buried
laughing, playing and really enjoying ourselves for a good hour and a half.

All done! We paid in starbursts candy and all the leaf throwing you want.
Do you happen to notice how many leaves are still in the trees? Yes, we have just scratched the surface.

I am going to really need to learn to let go when Clark gets older. Looking at your pictures, all I could think about is how there might be a leach or mouse in those leaves. I am pathetic. Their faces of pure joy slowly warmed my heart and I decided that there are worse things then leaches... nothing is worse then rodents.

Mallory, you totally crack me up. We raked them all one by one to ensure zero rodents were involved. And, I don't think leaches live in our yard. Do they live in your yard?
